Enjoying time with the care-givers at Caribou Lake.
Lots of excitement and entertainment.

New Day Dawning

Erik left early this morning for SALT Orientation in Pennsylvania.

He will spend one week in Akron and then head to Vietnam.

We spent the last few days doing things focussing on Erik such as eating favourite food, sorting, packing, and finalizing details.

For his birthday I carved a watermelon shark because it combined two of his favorite things.

Conrad made a photo collage last night in honor of Erik and his departure.

Something to Smile About

Here's what I've been working on - and finished!

The pattern is called "Which do you choose?" and you pick the different motifs and knit as long as you want in each one.

This is my swatch where I practiced the stitches.
It was really fun to knit and because I enjoyed it so much,
I'm thinking of knitting another one -
only it will be totally different because I'll make different choices.

Memory Lane:  I remember when I was a little girl living in Kingston, Jamaica, a neighbor lady crocheted each of us sisters a skirt.  I loved mine SOOO much.  I was really sad when I outgrew it.  I think that skirt was part of the reason that I wanted to knit a dress.

I outgrew it as I got taller and  it got shorter and shorter.

Erik's Birthday

We celebrated by going out for supper as a family.

Then we came home and Erik read a Winnipeg Free Press that we bought on the day he was born.

All those years ago we had also bought Vogue and GQ from August 1992. It was kind of fun to look through them to see how things have changed and how they have stayed the same.
