HAITI

Arthur is really busy at work with on-going efforts to send relief kits to Haiti. He's storing stuff where usually there are wide open work spaces. People from all walks of life and all over the Province are bringing in blankets, soap and other supplies. Hutterites, inner-city school children, retired people are all pitching in. At the center volunteers are active and the place is humming. He's put in many over-time hours so that supplies can be sent out quickly.

I stopped in one day after everyone was gone and took these pictures. You can feel how much love and care people are putting into the kits when you look at the blankets and the neat stacks of towels.

Today Arthur went to an elementary school to recieve one of those big poster cheques from the staff and students for over $2,000.00. The school was located in one of the roughest parts of Winnipeg. (I don't have a photo of the cheque but apparently there will be one in a community newspaper in the next few weeks so I'll try to get a copy of it.)

Manitobans have collected over two million dollars for MCC's relief efforts in Haiti.
